FOX TEMPTED BY TON POST
NEILSTON stand-in boss Robert Fox hinted he would be interested in taking the Brig O'Lea manager's post on a full-time basis.
Fox took temporary charge of the team following the departure of Bobby Crilly.
And he admits he would be tempted to go for the job if he gets a positive result in Neilston's Scottish Junior Cup tie against Colony Park on Saturday.
He said: "It has been a tumultuous week. The committee had asked me to take over on a short-term basis.
"I wouldn't walk away from that and I have had a positive reaction. I had a meeting with the squad to clear the air and see if they wanted to come back.
"A lot of the players were Bobby's and I was a bit pensive about how many would turn up, but 18 players came.
"I am looking forward and I will just take it game by game.
"If I get a positive reaction there might be a chance I go for it."
The Farmer's Boys were out of action this weekend with the September bank holiday. And Fox believes the break has come at a good time for him to prepare for next week's Scottish Junior Cup tie in the north east.
He added: "The break arrived at the right time because it's given me a chance to look at the squad.
"I have talked to the players about the last five or six weeks and the way the results have gone.
"Most of the feedback was positive and they said they thought they weren't too far away.
"My main focus is shoring up the defence so we don't concede any goals. If we don't concede goals we will stop losing games.
"I know it isn't the same pressure as the league. But if we win the cup tie that gives us a bit of confidence going into the next league game."
Meanwhile, David Crilly, inset, has left Neilston following his dad's departure from the club. However, the Farmer's Boys have signed George O'Malley and Dillon Dastey.
The supporters' bus leaves Brig O'Lea on Saturday at 8.30am for Colony Park.
