ARTHURLIE boss Sandy MacLean was left frustrated on Saturday after seeing his side's clash with Largs Thistle washed out.

But the Dunterlie manager admitted it was the right decision by the referee to scrap the fixture.

The game at Dunterlie was cancelled late on Saturday after the whistler deemed the park unplayable after heavy rain hit the Barrhead area.

MacLean was frustrated with the call off at such an early stage in the league campaign, however, he didn't disagree with the ref's verdict.

MacLean, who travelled to Meadow Park instead to take in Irvine's win over Arthurlie's next opponents Clydebank, told Barrhead Sport: "It was very disappointing.

"You don't want to lose Saturday afternoons.

"To be fair the referee gave it as long as he could. It's maybe a bit disappointing from the Largs point of view but I think he made the right decision.

"It had turned out to be a perfect day for football but there were areas of the pitch the referee wasn't happy with."
